• Try
wearing sober colored clothes because bright and shiny
outfits try
to flee the animals and birds away.
• Avoid
strong smells, noisy accessories like plastic covers,
bells,
bangles,
camera pouches-straps,
binocular
covers as these reduce the chances of spotting wildlife
and birds.
• If
you are a big group try to split yourselves into two
or three
smaller
groups. This not only helps
to control the noise but also helps to explore more
and discover
something new through each of the sub groups.
• Prior
to visiting a place especially a sanctuary or a interior
nature
reserve - Read, talk to people and
browse on the internet and collect as much information
as you can.
• After
you return from a place or spot which is comparatively
less known,
do write some notes regarding
the nearby villages, approaches, distances, contacts
and
the facilities/ amenities. Small maps and jottings
recorded on the location details are very useful later.
This information
would prove to be very valuable for others or for yourself
in the future.
• Try
to watch the animals and birds from some hidden outlets
like
from
behind a tree, being inside
a car, using
huts in the villages, sitting along the wall of a well.
Aquatic birds are quite habituated to the boats floating
around them and provide very good chances of a close
approach in a boat. Sometimes a short climb (ensure
proper care)
on a suitable tree provides a better bird watching
opportunity compared to being on the ground.
