Saleel is deeply engrossed into nature and wildlife since his childhood. He is committed to conservation through various initiatives for protection and preservation of environment.

He has authored several prestigious books, been a reputed columnist and his photographs & articles are recognized, awarded & published internationally.

IT and Telecoms is his profession & Nature-wildlife his passion!

Nature has been an inspiration for Saleel right from the childhood & he has been observing, admiring, studying and photographing Nature and wildlife for last 15 years. Saleel has pursued this hobby even today, balancing it well with all his professional schedules and commitments.

A Telecommunication engineer and Management post graduate - Saleel has been working for leading global conglomerates and has travelled extensively to USA, UK, Holland, Germany, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Austria, Malaysia and Singapore for various professional assignments in Telecom consultancy and IT projects.

Saleel is committed to conservation and has led some significant conservation initiatives. Saleel is a member of various nature conservation and wildlife organizations across the world and has been conducting slide shows, talks, seminars and workshops and been a mentor for several nature clubs.

He was the first to study and initiate the idea of getting a status of a bird sanctuary to Sirpur- one of the local lakes in Indore, his hometown. He has authored /contributed for five prestigious books, two of which have been published by Oxford and BNHS. The book on “Birds of Western Ghats” co-authored by him is a first of its kind publication.

He has been a popular columnist at Times of India. Saleels solo photography exhibitions have been organized in reputed art galleries. He has also received International and national awards for his work. His images and articles are often seen on several major publications and magazines.

He considers nature photography as “a medium to reach closer to divine nature” and spreading the message of conservation-he strictly restricts this hobby to a totally non-commercial activity.

He also works in collaboration with some of the famous museums and institutes in London. He has been an advisor to many events and projects in the UK.

Saleel resides in the UK with son Shakunt and wife Deepa-also an IT professional, a Six-Sigma black belt and keenly interested in fine arts, yoga and nature-wildlife.

Saleel in Music

Born in a musical family - Saleel is also a performing musician. He has been playing Tabla in reputed concerts as a soloist and as an accompanist.

In the UK, he has performed at prestigious venues like South bank hall, Nehru Centre, House of Commons, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Vand A Museum, Army Museum, Brethwait Hall, Fairfield theatre, India now festival, Indian high commission, Whitgift auditorium, Lyods Park and many other cultural venues. He has accompanied many famous musicians from India. He has also recorded for CDs, DVDs and films including couple of BBC productions. His music clips can be seen on You tube and other online resources. 

Saleel has also created video productions for various organizations, museums and libraries. He is actively involved in workshops, seminars and Lec-demonstrations. 

Currently he is associated with many music initiatives in the UK including workshops, projects, trainings, conducting classes.

Saleels parents are noted exponents of Indian classical music – Dr. Shashikant Tambe (father) is an acclaimed vocalist musician and Jayashree Tambe (mother) - a well known Kathak danseuse.
